Multi-purpose fire sealant for all linear joints and cable and pipe penetrations. Protecta FR Acrylic is the top selling fire rated mastic in our selection of products. The reason is that it has been developed and tested so that it can be used in nearly all fire-stopping situations with very few exceptions (see below). Helpful sealant calculator available here.
This avoids the need to carry a lot of different mastics with you on the construction site. It is also this mastic that is used in combination with Protecta FR Board. This, combined with the best fire rating in the market makes the product unique.
Protecta FR Acrylic is tested with many different types of penetrations through most surfaces, including concrete, masonry, steel, timber, gypsum, glass, plastics and most non-porous surfaces. Acrylic is classified for fire sealing against timber, steel and aluminium such as door and window frames. It is intumescent and closes the gap even after plastic pipes burn away - commonly referred to as HPE (high-pressure-exerting). Metallic pipes may be on an angle up to 45o.
Tested under BWR 3 for smoke - rated for 100% smoke protection up to 200Pa - zero air leakage.
Protecta FR Acrylic can be over-painted with most emulsion or alkyd (gloss) paints. Rated Z2 - for internal use with normal humidity and temperature (up to 85% relative humidity and temperature above 0oC)
